For marine surveyors

Turn up already knowing what she's had done.

Most pre-purchase surveys start the same way: a shoebox of receipts, a seller's memory, and an hour you don't get paid for. When an owner keeps a HullDocs record, you get the maintenance history dated, itemised and on file — and you can read it before you drive to the marina.

It costs the owner nothing, and it costs you nothing. We just keep the paperwork straight.

What's waiting for you before you step aboard

The seller sends one link. No account, no app, nothing to install.

🗓️

A dated service timeline

Every entry carries the date it was ADDED, not just the date the owner claims the work happened. A record started three years ago reads very differently from one assembled the week before a sale — and you can see which one you're holding.

🧾

Receipts and documents attached

Photos of invoices, registration, insurance, past survey reports — filed against the boat rather than lost in a drawer. You see what exists before you ask for it.

🔧

Which shop confirmed the work

When an owner says a yard did the job, HullDocs can email that yard a one-tap link to confirm it. Entries the shop confirmed are labelled as shop-confirmed. Entries the owner logged themselves are labelled owner-logged. You can tell the difference at a glance — because the difference matters to you.

⏱️

Engine hours at each service

Recorded against each entry, so the hour meter has a paper trail rather than a number on the day.

How a shop confirmation works

It matters that you know exactly what a confirmation is — and what it isn't.

  1. The owner logs a service and says which yard did it.
  2. HullDocs emails that yard a single link. No account, no password, no data entry.
  3. The yard taps “Yes, we did this work.”
  4. The entry is marked shop-confirmed, and the shop's name is recorded against it.

What that means: the shop has confirmed it performed the work. What it does not mean: that the work was done well, that the part is still sound, or that anyone has looked at the boat since. That judgement is yours, and only yours.

We don't survey boats. We keep the record.

HullDocs is a logbook, not an inspection. We record what an owner entered and the date we received it. We can record that a shop confirmed it did the work.

We do not inspect the vessel. We do not assess condition. We do not appraise or set value. We do not certify that any work was done correctly, and we do not stand behind it. A HullDocs record is documentation — it is evidence to weigh, not a verdict, and it is not a survey.

That's the point. A documented history makes your job faster and your report better — it doesn't do your job, and it was never built to. The judgement is yours. It should be.

Tell your sellers to start a free record.

Next time you're booked for a pre-purchase survey and the history is a shoebox, send the owner here. One boat is free, forever. They'll have it straight before you arrive — and you'll spend your hours on the boat instead of the paperwork.
