The living maintenance record for your boat
Every boat has a story. Now it's already written.
Add your boat by its Hull ID and the record fills itself from public data — specs, documentation, recalls. Keep it living, and hand the next owner a history they can trust.
RECORD
Resale figures per marine seller guides — Yachting Experts, 2026. HullDocs compiles public records and the data you enter; it doesn't appraise your boat.
How it works
Already started. You finish it.
Add your boat by HIN
The record fills itself from public data — make and year, hull specs, documentation status, even recall notices. No blank page.
Log service — every entry earns its trust
Owner-logged, receipt-backed, or shop-confirmed. Each entry carries its source, so a buyer knows exactly what stands behind it.
Sell with a Verified History
At sale it compiles into one shareable report a buyer trusts — and the whole record transfers with the boat to the next owner.
Why a buyer believes it
Every fact carries its source.
A record is only worth what a buyer can trust. So every entry on a HullDocs record shows where it came from — and the source is earned, never self-assigned.
Public record
Pulled straight from public USCG data. Not the owner's word — an independent record.
Receipt-backed
The owner logged it and attached the receipt. Proof, on file.
Shop-confirmed
The shop that did the work confirmed it with one tap. The highest bar buyers trust.
Documented, not appraised. HullDocs surfaces what the record shows so a buyer can verify it — we're not affiliated with the USCG or any registry, and we don't do title searches or guarantees.
A record a buyer can trust is an easy yes.
The living history surveyors and brokers look for — started for you, kept by you, and proven at sale.
The part that pays for itself
Sell with a history buyers trust.
Buyers treat a boat with no records as a red flag. Marine seller guides find an organized maintenance record can lift the final sale price by 10–20% — one brokerage reports a binder of service records added $8,000 to an offer. HullDocs packages the public record, your service log and the trust badges into one shareable Verified History.

Frequently asked
What is HullDocs?
HullDocs is a maintenance logbook for recreational boats. You log each service — oil changes, impellers, anodes, bottom paint — with the date, engine hours, cost and a photo of the receipt, building a documented history tied to your boat's Hull ID.
What is a HIN and why does HullDocs use it?
A Hull Identification Number (HIN) is the 12-character serial number the U.S. Coast Guard requires on every boat. Because it stays with the hull for life, HullDocs ties your record to the HIN so the history travels with the boat, not the owner. You can try the free HIN decoder before signing up.
Does the record transfer when I sell the boat?
Yes. At sale the buyer can claim the boat and inherit its documented history, so the maintenance record keeps going with the next owner — and the previous owner keeps a read-only copy.
Is HullDocs free?
Yes — HullDocs is free for one boat, including logging, timeline, reminders, a QR sticker and a shareable public report. Captain ($99/year) adds unlimited boats, AI import and document filing, shop confirmations and email service reminders. A one-time Verified History report ($35, free for Captains) packages everything for a sale.
Can a repair shop or surveyor confirm the work?
Yes. When you log a service you can send the shop a one-tap link to confirm they did the work — no account needed — so your record shows who documented each entry.
Does HullDocs appraise or guarantee my boat's value?
No. HullDocs documents your maintenance history; it does not appraise your boat or guarantee a sale price. Buyers, brokers and surveyors use the record to judge how the boat was cared for.
